Little Labs™, Milestones in Science,
Physics Pro, CHEM C500, Fuel Cell X7,
Prehistoric Expedition Kits and Prehistoric Skeleton Kits
Portsmouth, RI – February 11, 2007
Thames & Kosmos, publisher of high-quality science kits, today announced the addition of fifteen new science kits, bringing its line in exciting new directions. The new kits will be presented for the first time at the American International TOY FAIR™ in New York City, Feb. 11-14, 2007, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, Booth #2947.
Seven of the new kits make up a brand new line of bilingual science kits for children ages 5 to 7 called Little Labs™. The Little Labs line begins with Stepping into Science, a starter kit that covers five topics. The kit teaches science fundamentals through 25 experiments, while also introducing children to the concept and process of experimentation. In addition, there are six single-topic kits: Plants, Physics, Light and Colors, Animals, Weather, and Cars and Motors. Each kit offers about ten essential experiments.
The simple pictorial instructions included in all Little Labs have just enough text to reinforce vocabulary and aid in language learning, and also to advise parents and adult supervisors. The instructions are written in both English and Spanish, to help teach Spanish as a second language to native English speakers and also make the kits more accessible to native Spanish-speaking children. Stepping into Science retails for $34.95, and the six smaller Little Labs retail for $14.95 each.
Thames & Kosmos also announced the addition of two spectacular new high-end products. The first is Milestones in Science, an extensive survey of the history of science. This kit allows children ages 10 and up to learn about the 100 most important experiments and discoveries of all time, the scientists who performed them, and their lives and times. As children read the histories of over 140 scientists, they reproduce the scientists’ pivotal experiments firsthand. Milestones in Science retails for $79.95.
Topping off Thames & Kosmos’ very successful Physics line is the massive Physics Pro kit. This kit takes children ages 10 and up into the world of advanced physics with the study of fluid dynamics, allowing them to build some truly impressive models, such as a wind tunnel, a hydraulic lift, and a vehicle with pneumatic shocks. Young engineers will be thrilled with everything they can build.
Thames & Kosmos also announced the Fuel Cell X7, a new, less expensive version of their best-selling Fuel Cell Car & Experiment Kit, with a suggested retail price of just $99.95. The kit has been reworked to make it available to new audiences, both in regards to price and content.
CHEM C500 has been added to Thames & Kosmos’ line of chemistry sets. An improved version of CHEM C101, the new CHEM C500 is an introductory chemistry set that retails for $31.95.
Four of the new kits are additions to Thames & Kosmos’ line of National Geographic™ Dinosaur Kits: Prehistoric Expedition Kits and Prehistoric Skeleton Kits, featuring an Ichthyosaurus and a Pterosaur, are now available. The Expedition kits retail for $10.95 and the Skeleton kits retail for $6.45.
Thames & Kosmos kits can be found at specialty toy, hobby, gift and museum stores, as
well as through educational and home-school suppliers, toy and gift catalogs, and online stores.
